What class should I use in Guild Wars?

When starting out. I ordered prophecies and it will be my first ever mmo. What should I choose to get used to the game until I get good enough for something like a mesmer or necromancer?

It depends on your preferences really. I’ve played GW since it came out so I’ve got quite a lot of experience ;P

Anyway, since your only getting prophecies, you’ve got Warrior, Ranger, Monk, Elementalist, Mesmer and Necromancer I believe. To give you a brief breakdown, its basically:

Warrior – Using Swords, Axes and Hammers etc, warriors are your basic class, using power attack skills and such. A good starter class.

Ranger – Archers that can tame beasts. Moving quick, obtaining pets to use in battles and ranged attacks are all good =D

Monk – Use healing and protection prayers to help others, not attacking but combined with other classes can become good attackers.

Elementalist – Uses fire, earth, wind and water magic to attack enemies.

Mesmer – Has Illusion spells that can atack weak points on enemies, such as health degeneration, stat reducing, etc

Necromancer – Uses blood magic to attack enemies and steal health. Can also make minions out of corpses to use in battle.

That’s basically it. You get 3 or 4 slots for characters I think so you can experiment to see pros and cons of classes
