Is Obi-Wan Kenobi VS. Darth Vader in Star Wars a metaphor for Atheist VS. Christian?
Obi-Wan Kenobi fought for democracy and ethics while Darth Vader fought for the tyrannical rule of a dictator – Emperor Palpatene. Darth Vader told Obi-Wan Kenobi, “If you aren’t with me then you are my enemy.” That was an almost identical quote to the self-professed Christian and leader George W. Bush who said the same but replaced the term “my enemy” with “against me.” Since the Christian God is the judge of all humanity and the all-powerful absolute despot who casts down fire, flood, and plague, could he not be seen as tyrannical? Could Star Wars be a metaphor in that the force of Good eventually triumphs over evil? For example, the Christian church can no longer execute non-believers like they did so many times in the past. Are there any similarities here?

You people kill me. What you masses need to realize is that by looking at art and fiction we can find ourselves. Yes, we can get enjoyment out of watching Star Wars, but we can also look at the screen and see us. That’s where the value lies.
Whether you look at is as a Rorschach test where some people will see Christianity and some feudal Japan, or as simple melodrama, experiencing Star Wars, both individually and as a society, allows us certain insights.
Star Wars draws from many influences, including Kurosawa, Dune, and real life wars. It is many things, but it is not a Christian parable. Anti_Fascism is just trying to get you to think. However, if someone wants to see Christ or current-day politics in the trilogy, good for them. One of the reasons that we have art is so that an artist can make a statement. Another reason is that we can let that statement reflect onto us.
