How can I make custom Lego Pieces?

I’m a big LEGO fan, and I’m interested in making my own pieces to make a custom LEGO guy, a one-of-a-kind. (That means I’m not “purist.”) How can I make custom LEGO pieces, specifically helmets and armor? Or, even better (because I’m inexperianced) could someone redirect me to someone who can make pieces for me? Thanks in advance!

I’d suggest making the pieces out of polymer clay. It would have a slightly different look than the plastic legos, but you could make them look very close to the original, perhaps with a gloss coat. Making custom plastic molded items would be rather more complex and expensive I think.

If you’ve never worked with polymer clay, get a soft brand, like Sculpey (http://www.sculpey.com/) at a craft store. It comes in many colors including the bright primary colors that legos are made in.

You can get very creative with your helmets and armor and even make your own molds of sculpey to make it easier to create several of the same kind or similar ones.
