How come when Qui-Gon Jinn dies he his body is burned but when Obi-Wan Kenobi dies his body disappears?
At the time of Qui-Gon’s death, the Jedi had not yet figured out how to come back from the “Netherworld of the Force.”
In Episode III, Yoda lets Obi-Wan know that Qui-Gon himself has figured it out. Yoda says that he has some training for Obi-Wan, on how to speak with Qui-Gon now that Qui-Gon can reach back.
Yoda and Obi-Wan both do that training, so by the time of their deaths they already know how to come back from the netherworld.
