How do you reconcile two pieces of knowledge shared by elders?

One is your essence is pure. God has made you pure. Remove all the blocks that have been created and the love of spirit will shine through.

Another one is we are in a journey to transform on earth. A journey to learn from experiences and evolve spiritually.

Are these two pieces of knowledge consistent with each other?

as i understand it through some of the teachings that i have read…

It is indeed true that our essence is pure. It is also true that we have been born amongst sleeping humanity. (teachings of the 4th Way.) The stories of Rip Van Winkle, Snow White, (and others) relate to this reality/thought/idea. As a result, we have fallen asleep, developed False Personality (nafs, ego etc) and we have built in ‘buffers’ (blocks) that stop us from seeing our true position. If we can transform the energies with the Help of God, our False Personality will decrease, we will awaken and we will come to ‘Know Ourself’.

We will become enlightened and a Real Human Being. As i understand it, this is a rare and priceless attainment and requires much work on ourselves with the help of a Teacher. If we are successful, the love of Spirit will indeed shine through insha’Allah.

yes. i believe that these two pieces of Knowledge are indeed consistent with each other and deserve much thought insha’Allah.
