Can I just rebuild my rear end with 4.88 gears, or do I have to have front and back?
I have a big truck with some big ass tires and I am doing my research on gears and pinions, but what I really wanna know is. Do I have to rebuild the front and back gears or can I get away with just the back axle w/ 4.88′s?
If you have a 4-wheel drive truck, then both front and rear axles need to have the same axle gear ratio. If you run different gears between front and rear, you may end up damaging the transfer case.
